General Summary of Job – Hourly Position - $15.00 - $20.00, Depending on Experience

The Dog Trainer is responsible for execution and oversight of daily pet dog training services including training dogs, puppy potty & crate training and daycare dog drills training sessions. Additionally, they are responsible for assisting/leading training classes, class orientation and private training. The Dog Trainer assists with training sales efforts and communication with clients regarding training needs or behavior issues/concerns. They also assist with training new pet care counselors and troubleshooting dog behavior issues within the facility. The Dog Trainer reports to the Training Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct dog/client training, including group classes, daycare training and private sessions.
    Document training plan for each pet and progress toward training goals.
  • Respond to client inquiries on training programs and sell training services for pet and clients.
  • Dog Behavior Training
    a. Ensure new daycare dogs are trained for recall as soon as possible (preferably by
    2 nd or 3 rd visit); provide refresher training as needed
    b. Provide one-on-one training as requested for boarding, daycare, grooming dogs in problem
    areas (leash pulling, listening, jumping, etc.)
    c. Continue education with current issues/theory in the areas of dog behavior, dog training
    techniques, human learning theory and dog daycare. Professional memberships and
    communication group participation in areas of training and daycare.
    d. Assist as needed in teaching Body Language course to Pet Care associates
  • Puppy Training
    a. Coordinate schedules for puppies in potty/crate training program
    b. Ensure daily schedule is followed for age of puppy and paperwork properly completed each
    c. Work with Pet Care Counselors to identify concerns or issues so they can be resolved and/or
    communicated and coordinated with parents
    d. Provide daily/weekly updates with parents as needed to ensure appropriate progress of
    puppy through program

Minimum Experience, Skills, Certifications or Academic Background Required

  • High school graduate, college preferred and or pet training certification
  • 1 – 3 years pet care or training experience
  • Excellent written, communication skills and team player
  • Self-motivated independent worker experience
  • Sales and service experience
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Proven leadership and training skills
  • Good decision and problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to work weekday and weekends, as business warrants

Pay:  $14.00 - $15.00 – Part-time and Full-time Employment

Kenl-Inn Pet Care Attendant attends and cares for pets such as dogs, cats, birds, and other pets in the KENL INN facility.  Cleans and maintains pet areas and KENL INN property. Directly reports to Kennel Supervisor or Manager, or their designee, for proper direction, interpretation, and evaluation.  Maintains and guarantees KENL INN, INC. quality and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Feed and provide water to pets according to schedule and instructions
  • Cleans and disinfects pet areas
  • Monitors pets for signs of illness and cares for them according to instructions
  • Documents according to instructions i.e. Admissions assessment, diet, medications, food intake, eliminations, and signs of illness, etc.
  • Transfers pets between quarters and adjusts controls to regulate temperature and humidity of pets’ quarters.
  • Maintains pet enclosures, fenced yards, hiking equipment, and other KENL INN property as assigned
  • Plays and hikes with pets and summarizes activity on forms provided for pet owner.
  • Attends Company sponsored training events targeted for continuing personal and professional growth and development.
  • Observes safety and security procedures, determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, and reports potentially unsafe conditions. Operates equipment as per operation guidelines and usesmaterials properly.
  • Reports to Supervisor any failure to adhere to state, federal, or county regulations, and/or KENL INN, INC. work ethics and standards. 
  • Reports to Supervisor any deviation from scheduling or quality of service that may become a potential liability or result in client complaints.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing

  • Prior experience working with companion animals and basic knowledge of pet behavior

& characteristics are desired

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent
  • Must 19 years of age
  • Ability to work inside the United States

             NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work all shifts - overtime, holidays and weekends when required
  • Part-Time Weekends - 6 AM to 2 PM, 10 AM to 6 PM and 2 PM to 10 PM - Full Time positions are Open as well for the times listed.

Kenl-Inn Bather/Brusher’s primary duties are to properly prepare, bathe and finish pets by using humane practices and minimizing pet stress. Additionally, the Bather/Brusher is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the groom shop. Pet Care Counselors may be cross-trained in bather/brusher procedures for the groom shop. The Bather/Brusher works under the supervision of the Pet Care Coordinator, Senior Groomer &/or Groom Shop Manager and reports to the Pet Care Manager.

Primary Duties

  1. Perform bath functions as requested by client and described on the groom card
    • a. Nail trim
    • b. Tooth brushing
    • c. Brush-out
    • d. Bath
  2. Prepare dogs for bathing in accordance to procedures
    • a. Brush out dog with proper tools
    • b. Trim nails
    • c. Clean ears
  3. Bathe dogs as described in procedures
  4. Dry dogs completely
    • a. When time permits hand dry dogs completely
    • b. Cage dryer is to be used for bath dogs, intermediate drying of groom dogs, and for dogs that are overstressed by the hand dryer
    • c. All groom dogs must be completely dry and finished drying by hand
  5. Finish dogs as described in procedures
    • a. All dogs should be finish brushed and combed.
    • b. Bath dogs should have cologne and bandana applied unless client requests otherwise.
  6. Keep bathing stations stocked with supplies, tools cleaned and ready for use.
  7. Keep groom shop clean
    • a. During the work day keep the room safe by wiping up water spills and pet accidents as soon as possible
    • b. At the end of each workday all hair should be swept/mopped from the floor and cleaned from tubs/shower
    • c. Holding cages should be ready for next day’s arrivals
  8. Update pet status on white board and point of sale system. Advise receptionist when dogs that are to be “called when ready” are finished.
  9. Walk dogs that are kept in groom shop in accordance to procedures and note time of walk on white board or groom card
  10. Follow safety procedures for pets and staff at all times. Ask for assistance when a pet is stressed, very difficult to manage or showing any signs of injury.
