LIBA'S Business Owner of the Year!!
Our very own "Mom Dog" (KQ) was honored at the LIBA (Lincoln Independent Business Association) Free Enterprise Celebration as the Business Owner of the Year! We, of course, are thrilled to death and can't think of anyone more deserving. KQ & Ben began planning KENL INN several years before they opened. They became members of the American Boarding Kennels Association in 1985 and through networking with other kennel operators devised plans for what they believed to be THE BEST kennel in the area. Their dream and plans came true, because we truly ARE THE BEST around. On April 1st, 1988 (GAWD!! can you believe that date?) , they opened their doors. Their first customer was Dick Deer and his feisty Boxer. Dick still brings his dogs to KENL INN today! Memorial Day Weekend in 1988, we boarded 32 dogs, and We thought we would DIE! MAN-O-MAN was this hard work, or what? Who knew!? KQ had resigned her position as head nurse of Intensive Care at Lincoln General Hospital, but was still working as a staff nurse and Ben was the Manager of the Lancaster Rural Water District, soooooo.... they both basically had two full-time jobs. Many changes have occurred throughout the years. KQ & Ben always strive to stay on top of the latest industry trends. Today KENL INN employs, on an average, 40 people. Most of our staff are full time employees and, of course, we care for many more than 32 pets! Staff enjoys state-of-the-art equipment, excellent benefits, flexible work schedules, continued education opportunities, and more. Our customers enjoy peace-of-mind when leaving their loved ones in our care. From a recent employee survey conducted by our Human Resources Consultant here are some of the comments from staff, about KQ as a boss.
