KQ and Ben Allen had planned and researched for several years prior to opening their pet boarding facility and PURINA feed dealership with 47 dog runs and 12 cattery spaces.
Kenl Inn opened on April 1, 1988 and we had our first boarder on April 5th....Dick Deer brought his Boxer. Dick still brings his dog to KENL INN. Max, a Golden Retriever, is a very nice, well mannered dog and he and Dick make a Great Pair!!
That first weekend, we had 3 dogs boarding. By Memorial Day that year, we had 27 dogs (We thought we were going to die!!). By July 4th the count almost doubled at 48 and by Christmas, we had 72 canine friends celebrating with us.
Ben was our first groomer and was pretty much self-taught. We did grooming on an "as needed/asked for" basis. We've come along way since then!

The former Agility building was revamped and turned into a Day Care building with inside play area and two large outside play areas. Inside has thick rubber matting and thin “gym” green mats on top for aesthetics and ease of cleaning.
Outside has field turf – like in all the College and Major football and baseball fields. . Moving the d/c dogs out of Kenl 2 gives us now the opportunity to update that area which has served us well for the past 18 years.!!
Agility field is completely fenced to provide a safer place to hold agility classes.
This area will also be used as a “private dog run” area to allow clients to let their dogs run loose in a large open area, for a nominal fee.
A Mobile Groom Salon was purchased and put on the streets, allowing for even greater convenience to our grooming clients by arriving at their front door equipped with comparable equipment as in our Groom Salon.
Celebrated our 20th Anniversary of being in business with an Open House and special events throughout the year, including a visit from Jorge Bendersky from Animal Planet’s TV show “Groomer Has It”.
2009 – Beginning the transformation of Kenl 2 into a completely remodeled area for more VIP Suites. We look forward to this new challenge in these times of economic stress but are confident that they will continue to assure our national status as a leader in the pet care field and even further enable us to provide a standard of care the public seeks.
In 2010 - We asphalted our front drive and parking lot !!!!
